The Omenaa Foundation will celebrate its 10th anniversary in May 2024. Exactly a decade ago Omenaa Mensah decided that she wanted to use her fame and well-known name for a worthy cause. Her objective was straightforward: to assist those in need and contribute to making the world a better place. The foundation was inspired by Nelson Mandela’s belief that Education is the most powerful weapon one can use to change the world. From the outset, the Omenaa Foundation has undertaken various initiatives, including supporting street children in Africa, aiding Polish orphanages, and helping disadvantaged children in Poland and Ukraine. The foundation provides comprehensive support, from educational materials and language courses to tutoring for students. It also offers courses and workshops for adults leaving care facilities, helping them prepare for independent living.
Since the onset of the conflict in Ukraine, the foundation has been actively supporting the affected community. This includes running the RiO Edu Center, a day centre for Ukrainian mothers and their children, and the recently opened RiO Vibe Center, which offers psychological and therapeutic support, along with psychoeducational services, to both its Ukrainian beneficiaries and children from Polish orphanages, focusing on their motor and social skills development.
Looking back over the past decade, with its mix of challenges, critical decisions, achievements, and ongoing dedication, it’s clear this journey is a testament to resilience and the power of commitment. It is also, as Omenaa Mensah emphasizes, proof that there’s no such thing as impossible – also in her personal life, because it was through helping that the founder of Omenaa Foundation met her husband Rafał Brzoska. Today together they carry out the mission of helping.
